Scene 1

Mike: Speaking directly to the audience Hello there… points back to the other actors onstage It’s ok, they can’t hear us. Just one of the few tricks up my sleeve in my line of work. You see, I’ve been at this for a while…feels like forever.

Gabe: Who you talking to?

Mike: These nice people…

Gabe: Looking out to the audience Oh, hi folks… Waves and looks back at Mike Look Mikey-boy, we got work to do. You know this is our busy season!

Mike: It’s always the busy season for us, but Christmas sure does crank it up a notch. I was just about to tell these nice people what we are up too.

Ralph: Are we allowed to do that?

Mike: Sure, who are they gonna tell? Looks out to audience again They look trustworthy enough.

Gabe: Ok, but if we get in trouble with the boss, it’s all on you.

Mike: No problem, me and the boss got an understanding, besides; we’re on the side of the angels. What could go wrong?

Gabe: Mikey! We ARE the angels!

Mike: I know that Gabe. I was just getting to the part of explaining what it is we are up to.

Ralph: Enlighten them o wise one… jokingly bowing towards Mike

Mike: Looking out to the audience You see folks, we help people. Big surprise, right? But around this time of year the boss sends us out on special assignments… all part of His “mysterious ways” I guess.

Ralph: I like it!

Gabe: Me too. Let’s us stay in touch with the common man… and it’s kind of fun.

Mike: Gives us a chance to train some of the new guys too.

Angel in Training #1: Reporting for duty sir!

Angel in Training #2: Ready for action! Point us in the right direction!

Gabe: Settle down rookies! How old are you two anyways?

Angel in Training #1: 400 years old sir!

Angel in Training #2: 385… you can probably tell by my youthful appearance (fixes his hair-smiles).

Ralph: Were we ever that young?

Mike: Once you turn a thousand it’s all downhill. Time to suit up kiddies! We got some work to do. Time to “go undercover”, direct orders from the top, and find ways to help.

Gabe: Christmas is a time of giving…

Angel in Training #1: Presents and blessings and season’s greetings!

Ralph: But most folk get caught up in…

Angel in Training #2: Headaches and heartaches and everyday worries!

Gabe: We even got an intern of sorts…

Mike: More than just an intern.

Ralph: Anytime you hire in the boss’s kid you got yourself an intern.

Mike: Anyway, join us as we do our best to help a variety of people as they make their way home for Christmas.

Gabe: Everyone is just looking to go home.

Ralph: And it’s not necessarily as far away as you think (big overacted wink and thumbs up to the audience).
