Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Check out the list below for answers about my plays...

How long are your plays? All my plays take about an hour to perform. That includes both the written scenes of the play and student grade groups singing Christmas songs during the scene breaks.

How many characters are in the plays? My plays have anywhere from 15-28 characters, but for plays with larger casts some parts can be combined into one character and for plays with smaller casts parts can be split into multiple characters. Take a look at the cast lists for each play and you will see where angels, townspeople, students and other characters can be split or combined.

Is music included? Only one of my plays includes original music. Making Miracles includes the original song “A Miracle or Two”. The lyrics and sheet music for the song are included with the play. As for other music, my plays are written to include traditional Christmas hymns and songs in between scenes.  Most Christmas hymns and songs are familiar to students, making it easier to get them ready to perform. Also, my plays are written to allow for the audience to participate in the last song, which works best if the song is familiar.

How are plays delivered and how quickly will I receive my play? All plays are automatically emailed to you within minutes of your completed purchase through my Etsy shop. The only exception would be if you purchase the “Buy All Six Plays” package. Upon purchase, five plays will be emailed to you. The sixth play “Making Miracles” will be emailed separately as it contains multiple files that exceed the 5 digital items Etsy limit has for digital attachments. When purchased alone or with one or two other plays, the files for Making Miracles fit Etsy’s 5 digital item limit. I am working on a coupon code process that would allow customers to enter a code for Etsy to send Making Miracles separately after purchase. Otherwise, I will email the script and music files to you myself.

What is the allowed use of the play script I purchase from you? My plays are not transferable to others. When you purchase one of my plays it is intended for your school performance. While I want to keep costs down for schools and staff, my plays are original and copyrighted works and must be purchased directly from me to receive my permission to use them.

Are there additional fees for copying scripts for our performance? No. Many theatrical companies charge customers to make copies of scripts. I do not. Purchase of a play allows you to make as many copies of the script as needed for your purchased play(s) for the year they are performed. Purchasing multiple plays extends this offer to all purchased plays. For example, if you purchase the "All Six Plays" package you can print multiple copies of each script once for performance purposes.

Can I make changes to the play(s) I purchase? Yes. You may make changes to my plays. Examples of allowed changes:

  • As needed to combine or split roles to include more or less students.
  • Changing character names to better reflect the students in the play or the school community.
  • Add/changing lines as needed to better fit student abilities or comfort with performing.
  • Other appropriate changes that do not change the messaging or intent of the original play.

What type of costumes are required? My plays do not require complicated costuming. Roles include angels, shepherds, biblical figures, students, parents, grandparents, kids, adults, priests, nuns, and others from common jobs. My play “Tin Star Christmas’ is a western so that setting would influence costuming choices

What type of props and sets are required? My plays can be performed with simple props and sets. Chairs, tables, and a manger can be moved around or on and off stage to set the scenes. A light up star, Christmas decorations and trees, or other decorations help establish settings. The use of spotlights or different lighting at different times can change scenes between characters in different locations (two people on a phone call, angels watching over other characters). You can make your set more elaborate if you want, but my plays do not require complicated settings so you can focus on the performance.
